“Norman Cherry has invented Angiogenetic Body Adornment, 2004, a form of body modification that relies on biological engineering, the prototype for which has yet to be manufactured. Taking its name from ‘angiogenesis’, the natural process by which tissue is made, the ‘jewellery’ is constructed from the substance of the body itself. The process by which these body modifications are made is as follows: “Cells are cultured in vitro, then inserted into a biodegradable three-dimensional matrix of a given form which is reintroduced in corpo where the cells multiply and the new tissue grows.”” ( Cheng, Beccy and Indigo Clarke, 2006, p.70 )
