Identity Generator
Identity Generator it’s a jewelry design project that appeals to the self! We propose to generate a ring that is born through the genetic information of the user mixed with its urban environment – in this case, Portuguese heritage. The generated ring carries personal data. In this way, it is not just customizable, but breaks this boundary – it’s unique and intransmissable: it can only belong to the person that generated it.
The table below shows how we have adapted the most popular Portuguese urban element, the tile, into 4 types of tiles that will clothe the ring.

The outcome is achieved by forming the tiles A, B, C and D. Then we set symmetries between DNA user’s and this tiles, which are mapped in 7 variables: width; diameter; mesh – curve 1; mesh – curve 2; heredity; relief; resolution. These variables will alter the ring’s geometry, which is automatically generated by a computer program after the biometric codes are inserted into it. Each variable corresponds to a DNA line.
You need 3 steps to create your DNA Ring:
- Tell us your finger size
- Tell us your age
- Send us your DNA test result
- Processing… DONE!
- Result in file: myRing.dxf
The result is designed specifically to a person. It will appear in a .DXF file which can also be automatically fabricated – by creating a cast using rapid prototyping and then fusion fabrication, or by 3D printing processes:
